What does it mean to be a Christian?

  •  You must realize that you are a sinner. This means that you have broken God’s laws and have not loved Him and
lived for Him as you should have and therefore, you are separated from God and are living in rebellion to Him.

“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”
(Romans 3:23)

  •  You must understand that Jesus died for sinners. He gave His life as a ransom, making full payment for the sins of
all who believe on Him by taking upon Himself the punishment which we deserve.

  • You must trust Jesus. Faith in Jesus is the only way to be reconciled to God. Trust Him for forgiveness of your sins
based upon His sacrificial death on the cross at Calvary. Trust in Him for right standing with God based upon His
perfect life. And trust in Him for eternal life based upon His victory over death displayed in His own resurrection.
Jesus is the only Way of reconciliation to God.

•  Confess your sinfulness to God and submit to Him by acknowledging Jesus’ lordship in your life.

What next?

•  Commit to learning more about God and His will by studying the Bible and meeting regularly with other faithful
Christians.

•  Find and attend a church where the Bible is faithfully preached.

•  Live your life to the glory of God

A Christian is someone who believes in and has a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, accepts His death on the
cross as the payment for all of their sins, enjoys knowing Him now and looks forward to His return and eternal life with Him.

Scripture passages printed here are from The New King James Version of the Bible
“Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God,
and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The
chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone
astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.”
(Isaiah 53:4-6)

“This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save
sinners, of whom I am chief.”
(1Timothy 1:15)
“that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him
from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth
confession is made unto salvation.”
(Romans 10:9-10)
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice,
holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be
transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and
perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:1-2)

“Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”
(1 Corinthians 10:31)
Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly
dividing the word of truth.
(2 Timothy 2:15)
And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works,
not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another,
and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
(Hebrews 10:24-25)
“Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
(John 14:6)

"Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which
we must be saved."
Acts 4:12

“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,”
(Romans 5:1)
